Hope everyone’s had a lovely Christmas. Sorry for being MIA for such a long time, it’s been a really long year and sometimes, I think, it’s better for one’s health and sanity to just take a step back from everything for a while. But we’re back now, and will hopefully have some posts to share over the coming months.
It was my birthday last month, so thought I’d share a few things I was fortunate enough to receive as gifts, and one of my favourite looks for winter – bronzed eyes, berry lips and fresh glowing skin.
Base – Becca First Light Priming Filter. This is a slighlty luminous purple fluid with a light citrousy scent which you pop over moisturiser and before face makeup. I only have a small sample of it, but am falling in love and may have to purchase a full size bottle. The purple undertone beautifully brightens any dullness in the skin and the primer gives a wonderful fresh and natural radiance to tired skin.
Face – either Becca Aqua Luminous foundation or Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation (can’t for my life remember, sorry. I think they’re both absolutely gorgeous though, and photograph beautifully). Under eyes – MAC Prep and Prime highlighter and Charlotte Tilbury The Retoucher in shade #2.
Eyes & cheeks – Becca Apres Ski Glow Face Palette:
Top (left to right): Rose Quartz highlighter, Icicle highlighter, Winter Berry blush
Bottom (left to right): Blushed Copper blush, Opal highlighter, Bronzed Bondi bronzer
Eyes – first of all, I applied a light sweep of Blushed Copper over the lids, and some Opal over the brow bone, both from the Apres Ski palette. Then to make the outer edges of the eyes a little darker I used some Ipanema Sun bronzer also from Becca (this is a really Becca-heavy post, isn’t it? It’s def not sponsored by them, just really like all their products at the moment). Also used Benefit They’re Real Mascara and Nyx Control Freak clear brow gel. Finally, I put a tiny bit of Icicle in the inner corners to give them a nice cool wintry pop!
Cheeks – Bronzed bondi for a bit of colour during these dark winter months, and used a bit over my forehead, bridge of nose as well (the usual bronzer spots, you know the drill! 😉 ). Also blended a little Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal over my cheekbones and then went over it with the powder highlighter in Opal from the Apres Ski palette.
The Apres Ski Glow Face Palette was a gift for my birthday, and I’ve really loved it so far. The highlighters, when applied, blend nicely into the skin to give a fresh radiant glow without the tell-tale highlighter sign of big, super obvious particles of glitter. (However, this is my first time using these products from Becca (I’ve only used bronzer and primers before from the brand), and some die-hard Becca highlighter fans have commented that they felt the highlighters in this palette weren’t quite on par with the individual pressed highlighters…???)
Lips: A dark matte berry lipstick from YSL (the name has completely worn off from it, so, alas, I’m not sure what it is) and Vernis a Levres Vinyl Cream in 409, also from YSL, over the matte lipstick for a little bit of shine.
Finally, since we can never have enough sparkle – bangle with Swarovski cyrstal from Ted Baker. Also got this as a birthday gift, and I absolutely love it!
And c’est tout! It’ super quick and easy to do if you don’t have much time to get ready but want to look put together. I also love lots of glow products during the winter months as skin can get a little tired and dull. Hope you like the finished look! Please do let me know what you’re favourite go-to winter looks are, and your fave Becca products if you have any!
Enjoy the rest of the holidays and Happy New Year to you and your loved ones! 🙂
